- An Abundance of Tourism Resources on the Sea of Japan
Fukui Prefecture fronts the Sea of Japan, and has a coastline with rias, landforms sometimes referred to as drowned river valleys. Among these is Tojinbo, where cliffs some 25 meters high jut over the sea, the rocky surface eroded by waves. It is said that this is one of only three similarly grandiose cliffs in existence in the entire world. In winter, Echizen crab are brought in at the Echizen fishing port. Also known as snow crab, these crab are a regional brand, and are one of many reasons travelers come from all over the country to visit Echizen.
