Tokoname

Tokoname city is blessed with beautiful scenery and a mild climate, located in the center of the western coast of the Chita peninsula. Tokoname is known for it's traditions, 1000-year history and traditional local pottery: Tokonameyaki. This picture is of Dokanzaka which is located about 10 meters to the south from the Takita House, and represents a walking path lined with pottery. These walls are covered with earthenware pipes made during the Meiji period and shochu bottles made in the early Showa period. Finally, this slope is made from Kesawa which was used for during the firing of earthenware pipes . Tokoname is also known as the birthplace of Manekineko, the welcoming cat, which you can see in many stores throughout Japan!
