Izu Joren Waterfall

The Izu Joren Waterfall is located on Yugashima, Izu city in Shizuoka. Its name, Joren Waterfall stems from the temple called Joren-ji which used to be built near the waterfall. At a 25 meters tall and a width 7 meters, this waterfall was designated as a selection of 100 waterfalls of Japan. There is a field of Jorenshida (Woodwardia Unigemmata), a rare kind of fern which can only be seen in Izu and the southern part of Kyushu, and is designated as one of the national treasure of Shizuoka. There also is a monument for the song Amagigoe which was sung by Ishikawa Sayuri.
