Takayama

The center of Takayama city has been preserved as a castle and merchant town since the Edo period and it is often referred to as the "Small Kyoto in Hida" due to its traditional landscape. It is wonderful to wander around the city, looking at original Japanese small articles and products, going to hot springs, or even just for drive there. It is called ?gHida Takayama?h in many guidebooks and is visited by many tourists. It was introduced as "A town that still retains the old Japanese feel," and also received three stars in the tourism section of "Voyager Pratique Japon," a guide book by French Michelin.
