- Lake Suwa is the biggest lake in Shinshu which is surrounded by mountains, in the center of the Suwa basin. You can enjoy going for a row in a boat, riding on a sightseeing boat, or pond smelt fishing throughout the four seasons. Suwa Lakeside is the best place for walking, and Nagisa road is kept in a good condition in order to protect the surrounding nature. During sunset, the atmosphere of the lakeside is very romantic tinged with a rich sepia color. Fireworks for the Lake Suwa Festival which is held in August 15th every year are particularly gorgeous.
